Impossible Iris by Ramón Monegal

A perfume created for a bride...

My devotion for the iris note in perfumery always leads me to discover new perfumes and revisit the classics so here I found a true gem from 1977 that are based around the intriguing and always beautiful iris root note. The composition is utterly special but hat makes this perfume truly unique and even more special is because it's Ramon's first personalized perfume and he made it for the a bride who is his wife today.

Used in perfumery as far back as 1480 to scent linen, orris is a mysterious and irreplaceable ingredient. Harvested from the root of Iris Pallida, orris is nearly odorless until if undergoes a few years of maturation. Once orris is distilled to become orris butter, a semi-solid essential oil, the aroma attracts many in different ways. Depending on how it's interpreted in a perfume, it can smell like anything from sweet to woody to powdery. But indisputably, it's one of the rarest and finest ingredients in the olfactive world.

As per Ramón Monegal,

"I created my first personal perfume in 1977, for which I was going to be my wife on our wedding day. It was a perfume around the iris root, floral and powdered white. Since then the iris has been one of my obsessions. It is the most elegant, beautiful, unclassifiable and expensive ingredient that exists. The root must be dried for three years and then extract its precious essence. But it does not last for what it is worth and to make it last is almost… impossible!"

REVIEW
Impossible Iris is a truly special and important perfume because it's Ramon's first personalized perfume and he made it for the a bride who is his wife today. It represents a flower to love a woman and the iris represent the love here. Since 1977, Impossible Iris evokes pure love and utterly elegance to the wearer thanks to its powdery and aldehydic profile as well as its magical floral bouquet consisting in iris and soapy mimosa with an added fruity twist thanks to a raspberry note that turns green at certain stages paired with a creamy Ylang-Ylang. I love this gorgeous perfume.
